Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM):
- Principle of Operation: FDM is one of the most common 3D printing technologies. In this process, thermoplastic material (such as PLA, PC, PETG) is melted into a filament and then extruded through a print head onto the print bed layer by layer, creating the desired object.
- Advantages:
- Wide range of materials available, including strong and flexible materials.
- Well-suited for prototyping and printing functional parts.
- Disadvantages:
- Lower print quality compared to some other technologies.
- Visible layer lines may require post-processing.
- Printing detailed and complex geometries can be challenging.
